Two down, one to go. This is Sunset, she's the oldest of the three sisters, and the most brave and adventurous. Her gift from the fairies was a necklace that could transport her to anywhere that the sun shines!

| Flu dreams |
|
|
01:25pm 25/07/2008 |
|
| |
This flu is bad enough that I took the day off today. Last night was a bit hellish; sleep + flu aren't a good match, but the night sort of divided itself into two pieces. The first was guilt-dreams. I hate it when things are bad with anyone I care about, and I don't hold grudges, so the net result is I have guilt-dreams where I'm making amends by either speaking to or writing a letter to whoever has a problem with me. My sleeping brain tries to make everything alright again in a completely nonproductive and frustrating way. Thanks brain, thrain. I woke up from that, drank a little water, and fell into Sleep Part II. All the knots in my head untangled. I dreamed that Joe and I walked into the azure sea together, each clutching a bodyboard, and we lay on the boards - just like I used to do at Kings Beach as a kid - and turtle-paddled out way out to sea in slow, lazy strokes of our arms. Our legs trailed in the water behind us. The air was tropical and the water so clear that when we were out in the middle of open ocean - calm ocean, no waves - and I looked off the side of my bodyboard into the water I could see clear forty feet down and the sea was filled with enormous turtles, all stroking and swimming, just like us. I'm sure at this point of the dream I wasn't sure where we were going, and at some point Joe told me he was heading back, and I wasn't concerned in the slightest... it was just me and the turtles after that. The ocean and the sky became gray and land appeared on the horizon, and as the waters cooled, the turtles left me alone. I paddled into a narrow bay of mangroves and pulled my board ashore, gingerly stepping around the hundreds of stubby black mangrove shoots, my toes squelching through the dark muddy sand. I found a road and walked along it. There were little beach houses all about; it was a coastal town, and it reminded me of the town I grew up in, before the town grew up too. I found the local police station and asked them where I was. They told me. They asked where I'd come from, and were amazed when I told them. I showed them my drivers license. After that there were lots of questions, and things became blurry; all I knew was that what had happened, that swim which had seemed so nonchalant at the time, was something unbelievable. They must have found Joe and they flew him over, and when I met him I laughed and told him: "I wound up swimming all the way to Canada...!"

| coloring irises? (tips, suggestions, preference..) |

I finished my second pair of 'toony eyes and colored them the same way as my first, by painting with acrylic paint around the pupil. However, it's difficult to hide strokes, plus the paint chips fairly easily! and overall it just does not look as put-together as the rest of the head. so, what are some alternatives when doing irises? what different mediums, that sort of thing? er, anything eye-wise you find helpful would be appreciated, for future reference. :) mood: blah |

Hey, Fursuit! Remember Ida, the... Iunno, dragon-thing? She's back, with a few improvements- I personally like her a lot, but I figured I'd post her for you guys to see. She's almost a complete partial now (I have the head, tail, and handpaws- I just need to do the feetpaws, which shouldn't take more than a few hours), and when she's done I'm planning on wearing her or my first partial for Halloween, since there aren't any cons where I live. Remember, before you crit- I happen to like this design a lot now with the changes made, so if the business of the maroon and blue swirls bothers you, it's a bit too bad. XD To each their own, right? If there's anything you can point out structurally (Like how to help fix a crooked jaw- I need some help with that one) or something that you think looks wrong in that strain, please say so! :3 (And, again, I really can't do anything with the ears. D: I know they're back too far, but it doesn't look too bad when she's actually being worn.) Anyway, now I post some pics...

Does anyone have an example of a suit that had the dropped crotch? I'm attempting to make a dachshund suit and wanna see how a dropped crotch has helped make a character more elongated.

| 26" Amy Butler print cincher, $75 |

Hello everyone.. After recently moving and expecting two corsets in the mail in the next few months, I decided it's time to clean out my closet a bit to make room. I only have the one picture of this corset on my computer right now, but if anyone is interested I can take some more in the morning. I am asking $75, which includes shipping in the US. I can ship outside of the US, but I will have to find out how much it would cost. One reason I am asking so little for this cute little cincher is that when I opened the box it came to me in, I accidently put a little tear in the binding. Few more pics here : http://flickr.com/photos/jillscorsets/page2/The corset itself is made with Amy Butler print cotton fabric, double boning. The binding and laces are made with pink satin. There are also four garter loops. The waist closes at 26", there is a modesty panel. underbust ~ 28-29" hip ~ 34-35" busk lenght ~ 10"

| RAMBLE - Feminism, Eureka Award, Usability Week |
|
|

|
| |
FeminismCommon problems for men trying to get into feminism, and maybe where they come from: Men in feminism: MRAs, NiceGuys, and unspringing the trap of worthinessA great quote from it: "You just have to remember that if someone wants to go out with you it's probably because you're interesting and not because they judge you worthy. If the want to go to bed with you it's probably because they're horny and you're sexy and not because they've judged you worthy." Worthiness is that whole crappy game. If I was worth it (looked good), she would date me. If I was worth it (had money), she would...if I (was a Nice Guy)...if I (was a Feminist)...so why aren't I worthy enough to finally get dates? Well, the clue is this - 'worthy' is not the measuring stick you are being judged by. There are a million different ones from a million different individuals depending on how they are at that particular time in their lives. This reminds me of those 'learn how to bed women!' books and videos. Sometimes the techniques would work on anyone of any gender, assuming you were their prefered one, some of them work on women's insecurities. None of them actually work on 'all women', because the only thing 'all women' share is being female and our definitions of that can vary as well. A Femanist View by a real, live, actual dude has an interesting article here (though, hmm, given that he's addressing guys feeling uncomfortable in female spaces, I wouldn't have called it what he did!). This is really stupid - hey, instead of getting your wedding party a gift such as a book, or jewelry, or the costume you are making them wear, get them botox or a breast enhancement so they won't shame you. Mmmm. Other StuffMuch like a zombie, after Usability Week, I have been utterly converted, and now chant it, automaton-like, at meetings. USABILITY, USABILITY, if your users won't freaking use your site because your utterly vital survey annoys them when it pops up, what's the point of having it, USABILITY...they refuse to enter our site and fill out the survey because we are forcing them to...etc. I read Don't Make Me Think by Steve Krug and found it very rewarding. I recommend it to anyone, especially long term web developers like myself. Eureka Scientific AwardThis is something I couldn't mention earlier because until today the information was under embargo. My team ( BLUElink Ocean Forecasting Science Team, CSIRO Wealth from Oceans Flagship, Australian Bureau of Meteorology & the Royal Australian Navy, TAS) has also been nominated for one of the 2008 Eureka Awards - we are finalists in the Science in Support of Defence or National Security category: For outstanding research, overcoming huge scientific challenges in data management and assimilation and ocean modelling, to develop Australia’s first-ever real-time, integrated operational ocean forecasting system. The six-day forecasts of temperature, salinity, currents and sea-surface heights are of major operational and strategic benefit to defence, as well as benefitting border security, maritime rescue, commercial shipping and fisheries. Never would I have thought anything I was involved in would be up for the DSTO Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Support of Defence or National Security. Wish our team luck! We also won the Bureau award for best yearly project this year and accepted an award for this. Our angle is that our system helps sea rescue, and also enables fisheries to have more accurate information on when stocks are becoming depleted and fishing should be amended. mood: thoughtful |

Hung out with Andrea today for a while. It wasn't very long, which I felt bad about 8C I don't want her to think I don't enjoy her company AUGH but she told me not to worry so I'LL TRY NOT TO. But yeah she showed me this GORGEOUS video game omg 8C apparently its super rare, but if I can I'd like to try and find a decently priced copy. I really enjoyed what I saw of it, and I know Travis would love it too. SO YEAH. DO WANT 8C And we walked the dogs and blahblah. She's such a sweet, nice person. I'm starting to relax a little. I'm always so nervous making new friends but she's been very patient with my nervousness and has been so fun to hang out with! Gonna order PIZZA for dinner so I don't have to worry about cooking when its so warm and because it would be fun ;p Then I can concentrate on getting this art I'm working on done and getting some time with Travis. POSSIBLY working on getting some mailing ready. TOMORROW I will get a bunch of mailing ready, and make sure that a couple of things will get in the mail so people don't hate me 8C and I'll get packed up for my trip *omgomgomg* WHEN I KNOW what I'll be wearing on saterday I'll let you guys know, Amelia, Airu, and Liss ;p PROMISE. Right now I just don't know but when I pack I'll know X3 kind of sleepy today for whatever reason o_O ODD. Ah well. UM UM... I could have sworn I had more to say. GUESS NOT 8l mood: bouncy |

Has anyone ordered from foambymail.com for their foam needs? There is no JoAnn's here, so buying it locally isn't an option. If no one has bought from them, do you know where a good online place for foam is? I'm making my furst full suit and need a lot of it for this project, but I don't know what to look for. Many thanks :).

Lotsa pictures behind the cut tag. Saw the movie "Wanted" today. We seriously thought about getting up and leaving halfway thru it. The movie had some potential for giving a moral message (like "Hancock" did, and did well), but it totally messed this up in a "normal people suck, so go kill someone to be cool" attitude. Thus it all became an act of mindless killing and violence accompanied by massive amounts of gore in an attempt to create something sorta Matrixy. Sorry Freeman, I thought you would be above making crap like this. We left the movie feeling literally sick to our stomachs and frustrated that we had totally wasted our money on it. At least it was cheaper to watch here that it would have been at home. We just hope "Dark Knight" and "Hellboy" are going to be better. Anyways, though we saw that movie today, this post is actually about what we saw yesterday. I'll post about today tomorrow...I am always late. :P ( Second day, Vilnius. More old town prettiness... )mood: excited |

EPA Drops Value of Each American LifeAnd I happen to be listening to Word for Word on NPR, and the speaker is James McWilliams, on his book about the history of insect control in this country. You think people are only NOW realizing all these chemicals are bad? Even back in 1910 greedy companies were manipulating the government and the media to pressure the opposition into silence so they could make money without regard to life or the environment. They never learn, they've just gotten more powerful on our ignorance. --Moony mood: uncomfortable |
